IPE Opens 2027-29 PGDM Admissions with Scholarships of Up to Rs. 6 Lakh

IPE Hyderabad has opened 2027-29 PGDM admissions with scholarships of up to Rs. 6 lakh. Explore eligibility, entrance scores, placement packages and financial assistance opportunities.

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad, has opened admissions for its two-year, full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programmes for the 2027-29 batch, alongside an expanded scholarship framework offering financial assistance of up to Rs. 6 lakh per student. The initiative aims to recognise academic merit, entrance examination performance, sports achievements and artistic talent while extending management education opportunities to students from different financial backgrounds.

With postgraduate education costs remaining a significant consideration for aspiring management professionals and their families, scholarships can play an important role in determining access to higher education. For students with strong academic potential but limited financial resources, financial assistance can help make admission to a management institution more accessible.

Beyond reducing the financial burden on families, scholarships also encourage merit-based admissions, promote diversity in classrooms and support healthy academic competition. For students, receiving a scholarship can provide additional motivation to maintain their academic performance throughout the programme.

IPE Director Prof. S Sreenivasa Murthy said the institution believes management education should combine academic rigour with professional relevance and that financial constraints should not prevent capable students from pursuing admission.

“At IPE, we believe that management education must combine academic rigor with professional relevance, and that no capable student should be denied admission for financial reasons,” he said.

He added that IPE recognises excellence in entrance examinations, classroom performance, sports and cultural activities through its scholarship programmes. According to the Director, the institution awards scholarships worth more than Rs. 2.5 crore every year to around 240 students, with individual awards reaching up to Rs. 6 lakh.

The total fee for IPE's two-year PGDM programme is Rs. 9 lakh, payable in instalments. Scholarships range from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 6 lakh under different categories.

Under the IPE Merit and Means Scholarship scheme, the institution will offer 27 scholarships of Rs. 6 lakh each to students who score above the 80 percentile in CAT 2026 or XAT 2027 and whose annual family income is below Rs. 8 lakh.

The entrance-test-based scholarship scheme offers financial assistance ranging from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 3 lakh, depending on candidates' percentiles in CAT, XAT, MAT or GMAT. Students with CMAT and ATMA percentiles can receive scholarships ranging from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh. The scholarship assessment also considers categories, including General, OBC, SC/ST/Minority and designated states.

IPE has introduced a special scholarship of Rs. 50,000 for girl students, with eligibility determined by entrance-test percentile.

Students with achievements in sports and arts can also apply for special financial assistance. Those who have represented India in sports are eligible for scholarships of up to Rs. 4 lakh, while students who have represented India in the arts can receive up to Rs. 2 lakh. Students who have represented their respective states can receive scholarships of Rs. 2 lakh for sports and Rs. 1 lakh for arts.

The institution also rewards academic performance during the programme. The three best-performing students from each section, covering 27 students annually, receive scholarships of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 15,000, respectively.

Scholarships are disbursed in two instalments, with the second instalment subject to students' academic performance. Apart from IPE's own scholarship schemes, institutions such as IDFC and Bank of Baroda also offer scholarships to IPE students. Education loans are available through public and private sector banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs).

IPE has also highlighted its placement record and industry connections as part of the programme's return-on-investment proposition. More than 100 companies visit the campus every year for recruitment. Prominent recruiters include Deloitte, Federal Bank, PwC, S&P Global, FactSet, DE Shaw, TCS, Wipro, Dr. Reddy's, Kotak and Birla Opus.

The highest salary package offered at IPE is Rs. 23 LPA, while the median package is about Rs. 8 LPA and the lowest package is Rs. 5 LPA.

For the 2024-26 batch, the average salaries among the top-performing placed students stood at Rs. 14.39 LPA for the top 5 per cent, Rs. 11.85 LPA for the top 10 per cent and Rs. 9.31 LPA for the top 25 per cent.

Graduates can pursue career opportunities across consulting, banking and financial services, analytics, FMCG, healthcare and digital platforms, among other sectors. The institution states that scholarship assistance can substantially reduce the effective programme cost, while the median package of about Rs. 8 LPA remains an important consideration in assessing the programme's return on investment.

Explaining the admission process, Prof. (Dr.) Rama Krishna Yelamanchili, Dean, Admissions & Branding, said IPE evaluates applicants from a holistic perspective rather than relying exclusively on entrance examination scores.

“We look at holistic perspective of the student, not just a score,” he said.

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a UGC-recognised institution, with at least 50 per cent marks. The minimum requirement is 45 per cent for SC/ST/PC candidates.

IPE accepts scores from CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, GMAT and TGICET. Candidates shortlisted through the admission process must subsequently appear for a psychometric test, submit a short essay, participate in a group discussion and attend a personal interview. These stages are designed to assess applicants' thinking abilities, communication skills and capacity to collaborate.

The scheduled entrance examination dates include CAT on November 29, 2026, MAT on December 20 and 27, 2026, XAT on January 3, 2027, and CMAT on February 7, 2027. MAT and ATMA examinations are conducted several times a year, while GMAT is available throughout the year. The last date to apply for XAT 2027 is December 6, 2026.

Established in 1964, the Institute of Public Enterprise is located on a 22-acre campus at Shamirpet, Hyderabad. The institution is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and SAQS, and holds MBA equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

IPE operates under the aegis of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Education, Government of India. It has 60 doctoral faculty members and approximately 1,100 students from across India.

Its academic offerings include PGDM programmes in General, Marketing Management, Banking & Financial Services, International Business, Human Resource Management and Business Analytics, along with a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM).

With admissions open for the 2027-29 batch, IPE's expanded scholarship framework brings entrance examination performance, financial need, academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments into its financial assistance structure. Candidates can apply online through the institution's official website, www.ipeindia.org. Detailed scholarship information is available at www.ipeindia.org/tuition-financial-aid/.
